HUMMER ultrasound hour

The HUMMER course and its faculty are always striving to be on the cutting edge, aiming to provide the best and safest care we can give for our patients. Bedside ultrasound, or more commonly known as POCUS, point-of-care ultrasound use is exactly this. Currently, in addition the the Basic and Advanced HUMMER course ran bi-monthly, we always host an Ultrasound guided Peripheral IV access Course. This is currently ran every Tuesday, in the Maitland ED conference room and additional opportunities are occuring in John Hunter Hospital. This is open to all staff; doctors, nursing, allied health, students. It is a HETI sponsored initiative which, upon completion of the course, will be logged into your MyHealth Learning portfolio and you will be presented with a course certificate.
there will be hands on practice at these sessions, and as such, spaces are limited to a maximum of 4 participants per session. Please click the registration button below to register
There is a HNEH/HETI sponsored path to becoming credentialled in US guided PIV if you are interested. The requirements are below
1. completion of pre-reading document
2. successful completion of pre-course quiz given at start of session covering the pre-reading.
3. successful completion of 5 observed cannulation attempts, 1 of which must be supervised by a qualified instructor. log your attempts via the online form below
